Your keyword research
results are not always accurate with reality. Although research shows good
results, but it could be keywordnya performance is not satisfactory.
Website keyword
performance assessments should be conducted regularly to produce optimal
impact. Do not worry, not hard.
This is the fifth
chapter of the keyword research guide series
This performance
appraisal is especially for those of you who have been getting traffic steadily
from search engines.
If you are a new
website owner, this information may be useful after a few months. But there is
no harm in studying this science now.
Since we will be using
Google Analytics that is already associated with the Google Webmasters Tool, we
recommend linking the two accounts with your website to get the data.
Read in detail the
guide below because every step should not be skipped.
Google Analytics
Open your website
account in Google Analytics and then go to the Acquisition> Search Engine
Optimization> Queries menu. At the bottom right, change 'show rows' from 1
to 500.
After that export data
in Excel format.
Analytics Queries
Open the file you just
downloaded with Excel or Spreadsheet, then open a sheet named Dataset 1.
Highlight row (line) 1 then enable filter from Data menu> Filter.
Keyword Planner
Open the Keyword
Planner then from the Excel file it copies all the data in the Queries and
paste columns in Google Keyword Planner according to the way in chapter 2.
Download data from GKP
in CSV form.
Copy Avg data. Monthly
Visit from this CSV and paste it into our first Excel file earlier in the far
right blank column.
Impression performance
Add one more column on
the far right with the title "Impression Performance". Enter the
formula for this column Performance Impression = Impression / Avg. Monthly
Visit. Copy down, ignore the error (#VALUE!).
This is your keyword
performance. The closer to the number 1 means the better performance, while the
smaller the number means the performance is less good and should be improved.
Sort Queries by Avg.
Monthly Searches to set priorities.
CTR Performance
(Click-Through Rate)
For different ranking
positions in search engines, the standard CTR numbers also vary. A rank 1
position provides a higher CTR than position 2, and so on.
Advanced Web Ranking
has created a graph showing the CTR numbers for each position.
5425a7d00c1cf2.22412899
This data is obtained
through empirical testing. Position 1 roughly gets a CTR of 32% of desktop
users and 30% of mobile users.
That is, if your
website ranked first, 32% of people who search will visit your website.
Well, from the Excel
file we can see the value of CTR for each keyword. Pay particular attention to
keywords that the Average Position value is less than 5. Adjust the graph
above.
If your CTR value is
lower than the graph, it means your performance is not good.
Improve the performance
of keywords
From Performance
Impression, we can determine which keywords are potentially large but less
optimized. While from Performance CTR we can judge whether the use of our title
is good.
To improve the
performance of impressions, you must improve SEO and the relevance of your
website to the keyword. The way there are 2, first by improving the existing
page so that the better in SEO. Second, by creating new content that is
relevant to the keyword.
As for improving the
performance of CTR you must replace the title (meta title) of the page that
appears in the search results. Low CTR could be because you use a title that
does not interest potential visitors.
